My Blog is up and Running

Someone might ask what a weird name for a blog, messingblog. Let’s see, what the dictionary says:

mess verb

[ trans. make untidy or dirty you’ve messed up my beautiful carpet.• [ intrans. (of a domestic animal) defecate they had some problems with dogs messing in the store.• make dirty by defecating he feared he would mess the bed.

[ intrans. take one’s meals in a particular place or with a particular person, esp. in an armed forces’ mess I messed at first with Harry, who was to become a lifelong friend they messed together.

blog |bläg| noun

a Web site on which an individual or group of users produces an ongoing narrative Most of his work colleagues were unaware of his blog until recently.

That doesn’t sound too promising? But actually that is when you are German and happen to have the familiy name Messing, so it makes up the messingblog, that simple. Messing in German is short for Messingschlager, and it has a meaning too: a smith (Schlager, actually Schmied) working on brass (Messing).

So that you know me a little better, welcome to my blogging universe (a small universe, more that one in a nutshell, but sometimes it’s the quality that matters, not the sheer size).
